2020 Surf Camp Schedule
We teamed up with Glenn Hening, Surf Rider Foundation Founder, in creating a summer camp program curriculum journal that covers oceanography, the environment, the history of surfing, and history of our shop, established 1962.
The journal also integrates ShaunTomson’s book, “The Surfer’s Code” – 12 Simple Lessons for Riding Through Life! Shaun is a former World Surfing Champion! The Surfer’s Code has principles which a young surfer can benefit from creating more enjoyment out of surfing and life.
Our goal is to have the best surf camp experience for your children. With a 12 week program designed for only 180 children, small groups allow us to provide more personal attention. Our staff of instructor’s chosen to lead these camps are among the best San Diego has to offer.
Are your children eager to learn how to surf?
Ensure they have a safe and educational time at the beach filled with ocean-related activities. These include surfing, bodyboarding, skimboarding, sand castle building, and lessons focused on surf history, the environment, health, and exercise. Safety comes first with all counselors being CPR, First Aid, and Water Safety certifications by American Red Cross. Having a little surfer of your own will be a perfect reason for visiting the beach often.
If you are between the ages of 5-15 years old, a surf camp is the ultimate surfing experience! Our program is dedicated to safety, structured to provide a fun and enriching setting for youth to build the self-confidence necessary to develop into true water-women and men.

Three and Five Full Day Surf Camps
A multiple day camp offers the most comprehensive surfing experience around. Campers will have up to three surf sessions per day to practice their newly acquired skills. Surfing etiquette, how to read tide charts, and how waves work are all a part of the day.
Single Day Surf Camp
A single full day camp offers a convenient, flexible and affordable way to enjoy surf camp. Campers will learn about surfboards, how to paddle, pop up, and be safe in the water while having fun. Perfect for vacationers or if you just want one day for yourselves, drop the kids off with us.
Half Day Surf Camp
Half day surf camps are available Monday through Friday from either 9-12 or 1-4 pm. A great way to introduce kids to surfing as well as the ocean. Campers get tons of personal attention in a safe and fun environment. On top of learning how to surf, campers will learn about water safety, marine life and surf culture.
All camps run June – August *Drop-off begins @ 8:30 am – Pick-up ends 1/2 hr after camp ends* Our Discounts refer to both family members and friends. Call for Details!

Getting Ready For Surf Camp
Drop off is no earlier than 30 minutes before the start of the surf camp session. Campers will be greeted by our Surf School Director and surf camp instructors.
Parents/guardians will be required to sign in your child during drop-off and sign out after pickup. Your child will surf the slow rolling white water waves so they don’t have to be a good swimmer. We have 3:1 student to instructor ratio and our surf instructors are trained and certified in CPR, First Aid, and Water Safety by American Red Cross and will be beside them at all times. Equipment is included in a surf camp, but your little camper will need to bring the following:
- Bathing suit or board shorts to wear under their wetsuit
- Towel to dry-off after surfing
- A hat
- Instructor to student ratio is 1-4 (or less)
- Campers are grouped based on age & ability. Friends requests are honored!
- All instructors are CPR & Lifeguard Certified
- Parents always welcome on the beach
- We provide everything, from equipment & kid-friendly snacks, to sunscreen!
